Friday, February 29th, 2008

Jefferey is in the middle of recording his project and at this time we have complete drums & bass and working on guitar tracks layering a cross between Joe Walsh & Keith Richards style of playing. As you can see we have a nice line up of amps tone change-up sounds throughout the tracks.

British Tone

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

Need to grab that British tone, how about trying these Hiwatt heads. The purple is a 30 watt, that’s correct! 30 watts and the black one is a 50 watt. We also have the matching Hiwatt cabinets to go with the heads. The Les Paul is a 1973 red wine custom.

Telefunken M16

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

Telefunken originally created to address the needs of broadcasters, do-it-yourself audio enthusiasts, and recording studios, the R-F-T M16 MkII has quickly become a popular tool in both professional recording and live sound environments as well. In the spirit of the C12 and U67 microphones, the R-F-T M16 MkII provides an exceptionally clean and warm tone, substantial gain, extraordinary low end and extended high frequency response, while preserving the classic tube sound Telefunken microphones are known for. Utilizing standardized microphone parts from overseas, NOS tubes and a combination of high quality components made in the United States, Telefunken USA’s new large diaphragm condenser microphone is one of today’s premier microphones.

The M16 MkII features a new circuit design based around a custom wound BV314 transformer hand built in the United States by TAB Funkenwerk. The microphone also features a dual sided 6 micron gold sputtered capsule, custom 10 meter Gotham Audio cable, a remote 9 polar pattern external power supply, the same New Old Stock GE JAN 6072a tube found in the Telefunken Ela M 251, Ela M 12 and Ela M 270 microphone systems.

Neumann M149

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

The M 149 Tube is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone with switchable polar patterns. It is the first new “Tube” microphone design from Neumann in over 30 years, and also the world’s first transformerless tube microphone. The head grille is instantly recognizable to vintage Neumann aficionados as that of the classic M 49/M 50. The capsule (K 49), also from the M 49, is a select version of the K 47 capsule from the famous U 47. The circuitry of the M 149 Tube includes a tube amplifier coupled with Neumann’s FET 100 transformerless circuitry as used in Neumann’s award-winning TLM 50 microphone. This is Neumann’s top of the line “flagship” model.

Lomo 19A19 - Great on guitar cabs.

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

The Russian electronics giant, LOMO, have been producing their 19A series of microphones since the 1950s, and the series has since become firmly in demand across the recording industry, due to their status as somewhat of a rarity.

The rather unusual looking 19A19, is a condenser valve microphone designed for film, TV, and radio studios. It is a noticeably quiet microphone that gives the resulting sound a very vintage feel, which has been widely appreciated by engineers and musicians for decades. Pink Floyd are notable fans having amassed a collection of 12 19A19 units.

These Lomo 19A19 large diaphragm microphones are noted to be a blend between the AKG / Norelco C12A and the Neumann U47.

Neve 8801 Channel Strip

Sunday, February 10th, 2008

The Neve 8801’s signal path consists of our extremely high-quality Neve mic preamp, high and low pass filters, four bands of highly musical equalisation, a compressor, gate, dynamics side chain and an insert point. The order of the signal path can be easily modified as the music requires. We are using the Neve 8801 in a number of our sessions, this unit pack’s a punch for only being one rack space.
