West Valley Highway - Guitar Tone.

Saturday, September 22nd, 2007

West Valley Highway is back in the studio recording guitar parts. This session Moses is experimenting with tones by mic’ing and joining separate amps. During these sessions we are not trying to get a rock sound but creating a bold & smooth stereo character that will compliment that classic Bakersfield sound without recording what has been done before.

Shinybox Ribbon Mic.. Worth the price.

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

We test drove the ShinyBox Ribbon Microphone on a fender amp and in front of a drum kit 6 ft back.. At a price point that is acceptable around $700.00 I think you will start to see more of these in recording studios.

Each ribbon microphone comes with a soft canvas protective bag, spider shock-mount, and a hardshell case for storing the ribbon microphone upright. The 46 is high output for a ribbon microphone, and has a frequency response that has a rise in the high end and low end when compared to other ribbon microphones. In many applications, this presents you with a “ready to mix” sound. An exceptional value for the price, the ShinyBox 46MX stands up to ribbon microphones many times it’s price, without breaking a sweat. Each46MX ribbon microphone is hand assembled at the bench by Jon Ulrigg. Every ribbon motor hand tuned by Jon Ulrigg, which offers a level of quality control and performance that sets these ribbon microphones apart from the competition.

The Ampeg SVT - The real deal!

Friday, September 7th, 2007

Oh Yes, here is an original Ampeg SVT. These bass units are the foundation of great 70’s to today’s rock tones! The 85lb all-tube bass head along with the 165lb 8×10 cabinet makes for that great monster sound along with back troubles for anyone over 35 years old. Why 8×10 cabinet, so it can move more air and create that tighter tone from a 10” speaker compared to a single 15” or 18” cabinet. The cabinet locks in and can cover a vast genre’ of musical styles. Is this bass rig for everyone…Nope just the bands that have a roadie crew to do the heavy moving while you sound great on stage.

Our 1901 Stand-Up Grand Piano

Sunday, September 2nd, 2007

The Cable Piano Company, established by Herman D. Cable of Chicago in 1881, claimed to be “the world’s greatest manufacturer of pianos, inner player pianos, and organs.” Cable built a factory in 1901 in St. Charles on 3.5 acres west of the Fox River. Access to the Northwestern Railway made the St. Charles site particularly attractive because Cable received raw materials from all over the world.

Cable Piano Company became known not only for its products, but also for its working conditions. During the factory’s heyday in the early 1900s, there were as many as 500 employees, many of whom were women.
The Wellington pianos belong to the extensive line of instruments manufactured by The Cable Company Chicago They possess an attractiveness of and finish, elasticity of action and durability, not surpassed by many pianos of much higher price, in durability and in appearance the Wellington pianos reveal evidences of masterly piano building skill, are hard to equal. These instruments have been found so satisfactory that they are in great demand throughout the country and have also won an export trade of large proportions. The Wellington presents all the elegance of finish and melody of tone character that charm the lover of good pianos. It is a reliable piano in which the buyer receives a large return for a comparatively small investment. Its manufacturers possess peculiarly great facilities for the economical production of good pianos and they have succeeded in creating instruments of rare attractiveness at prices within the reach of the people.
